I'm interested to find out what's the right level of supplier assessment for a SME in the UK within the energy consultancy and engineering industry.
I am reviewing my company's supplier and sub-contractor assessment procedure and we feel that it's not being followed for various reasons. We're an SME with c.50 employees with a variety of trading teams within Wind, Hydro and Solar. We have ISO9001 accreditation so the procedure has followed the criteria within that on a risk based approach. We have some key triggers in place that mean a supplier needs a full assessment as opposed to just a registration. We find that some suppliers won't complete our form or supply evidence and therefore we are unable to formally/fully assess them through our system but we would still need to use them for certain projects.
