Procurious: Ramp up the Value | Masterclass | Act like you’re Dale C, unleash the power of procurement’s influence | Member-only event
In procurement we’re often tasked with making change – updating a sourcing approach that’s been the same for years, advocating a move from one supplier to another or even sometimes moving to adopt a whole new category strategy. And taking people in the business with us is more often than not a question of influence rather than the use of mandate or power.
Influencing is a key skill for procurement all as we increasingly take the lead to create and deliver more value for the business. Because, to quote management thinker Ken Blanchard, “The key to successful leadership today is influence not authority.”
So how can we develop our abilities and, as Dale Carnegie would say, make friends and influence people? Are there things that research on the topic tells us we should do?
For our masterclass on Influence we are delighted to welcome Dr Paul Joesbury, an experienced former CPO and, to quote one of his former colleagues ,“a remarkable combination of high intellect and high emotional intelligence which makes both those of an inquisitive nature and those of a collaborative mindset gravitate towards him.”
Learning Outcomes:
- Understanding what influence really means
- Discovering the psychology behind influence
- Interpreting the results on influence and models that have emerged
- Being able to apply different approaches to influencing
