I'm relatively a new recruit to the buying side of the table, just 3 years. I have sat on the other side of the table in responding to tenders and contracts for the past 18 years. I absolutely love being this side of the table and learning about all areas as a generalist. My job is as diverse as procuring goods from paperclips to fork lift trucks and ICT equipment. In my 3 years in Procurement I've set up a Procurement Department for the UK company, including rolling out an E-Procurement System on a national basis. I've achieved a lot for someone without any accreditation, reading up and creating procurement polices but I hope to persuade my company to support my CIPS accreditation this year. The field of debate on Procurement subjects seems never ending, so I'm here to meet fellow professionals and learn much more.
